ATPL Theory Process - How to Become a Pilot? #8

This phase consists of advanced theoretical flight training lessons that a pilot holding a PPL must take in order to engage in any commercial activity and work in an airline, and aims to reach the level of knowledge of candidates at the ATPL level.

The modular ATPL theory course is a course that allows you to take theoretical lessons of airline pilot license training, remotely by digital methods. ATPL exams measures only your theory knowledge. There is not practical part. You are required to take your first theoretical examination not later than 12 months after the end of the theoretical training in an approved training organization. All required examinations shall be passed within 18 months of the first sitting. You must pass all the exams within 6 sittings. The distribution of subjects in these sittings is at your own discretion. In the event of ; failing the same subject four times, failing to complete all exams within six sittings or failing to complete the exams within 18 months of the first sitting, you can not continue with examinations. An approved training organization shall be consulted for further training, before re-applying for theoretical examinations from the beginning. Minimum score to pass each exam is 75% and all exams are based on multiple-choice questions. Since the ATPL theory part of the training consists of sitting and studying the theory lessons, it is generally thought as the most boring part by the students and it is considered as passing the exams as soon as possible. However, there is a fact that; the better you digest and understand these lessons, the more comfortable and confident you will be in your remaining trainings and in your professional working life. Training consists of 14 lessons and these lessons are respectively;

5. Performance
6. Flight Planning
7. Human Performance
8. Meteorology
9. General Navigation
10. Radio Navigation
11. Operational Procedures
12. Principles of Flight
13. VFR Communication
14. IFR Communication

Requirements for ATPL course are;
- being at least 18 years old
- Having a PPL license and
- Having ICAO Level Certificate
