Kangpe, Tuteria and DavtonLearn Crowned Seedstars Lagos Finalists

In its quest to discovering the best startups from emerging markets and providing a platform for entrepreneurs and startups to access funds and also showcase their innovative ideas to investors.

This year’s seedstars world 2016 was a huge success as key players in the tech ecosystem gathered in celebrating the next disruptive Lagos, Nigeria startups. Basically, 8 startups was selected to pitch at this’s year Seedstars world Lagos 2016. Among the lists is two of the selected finalists for the Aso Villa Demo Day, an event aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, job creation and economic growth through the use of new and emerging technologies; Grit systems, a web-enabled smart metre for effectively track power consumption, enabling smart energy savings and Tuteria, a platform to connect learn any subject, language or skill from certified and highly experienced tutors near you.

Other selected finalists are Quickgas, helps people order cooking gas from the comfort of their homes, Piggybank, lets you save little amounts automatically directly from your debit card until you reach your target, Kangpe health, wants to put a doctor in the pocket of every African, Davton, an online/cloud based video learning platform for professional certifications and course, Legal forms, wants to be the one-stop shop for everything registration in Nigeria, Social lender, enables users get loans based off their social media clout.

A big shout out to international partners, such as the Swiss embassy, Orange, PayU and The Jacobs Foundation, to bring the “Transforming Education Prize” (TRECC), which will award the best startup in the education space from around the world with a prize of over $50,000.

However, Seedstars has announced the winners of the Lagos phase of its pitch event. And the winners are Kangpe, aims in putting a doctor in the pocket of every African, Tuteria, a platform to connect learn any subject, language or skill from certified and highly experienced tutors near you and Davton, an online/cloud based video learning platform for professional certifications and course.

The regional winner will get a shot at $500k prize money at the World Finals as PayU has devoted to investing $50k in the best FinTech startup. These selected startups will represent Nigeria at Seedstars global summit in Switzerland for a chance to win $1 million in fund.
