The Sweetest Gesture

Valentine’s Day grosses me out. Simply because it triggers people to think that this ONE time out of the year, is the ONE time out the year that people find it utterly neccesary to show love and affection towards each other. I am a hypocrite though, because I want to show an exubernt amount of love on this day too. What is awesome about showing a little kindness or little love is that when the spririt moves you to act on these things, you just do. That’s what happened to me on Feburary 1o, 2014.

It was a very cold, slow, and boring Monday for me at my retail job. As I stood watching the store tumbleweeds blow by, two guests with mounds of Garret’s popcorn passed me. Seeing a great opportunity to make conversation, and I little joke, I asked the women what kind of popcorn the purchased and why on earth they didn’t bring me any! They were highly ammused and announced they were headed across the street to Sprinkles Cupcakes, and would grab me a cupcake as well. I chuckled along with them and wished them a “great day”. Less than ten minutes later, the two women found me and graced me with a BW(black and white for you non-sprinklers) cupcake. I was shocked. They laughed and said it was my “blessing” for the day. They were right, it truely was.

It’s strange that a calendar has to remidn us to contribute simple acts of kindness, love, affection, towards our fellow mankind. These ladies contadicted that. And showed me the Valentine’s Day, a Hallmark day of love and affection does not have to fall on Feburary 14th.

To those two fabulous women: Thank you!
