Thank you. Wisdom should be relational. That’s the point, and that (relationality) is what is at risk of being endangered in a generation.

As a young family working in charities overseas with many different people and cultures we have found that as annoying as it can be to have the Indian mama tell me that the child needs to be bathed twice a day, or the Colombian auntie insists that the cure for hiccups is a wet piece of paper on the forehead (and the Korean mama heartily agrees!) — that the timelessness of these “old wives tales” brings about a sense of comfort and security in mothering. I am not the first one to mother, I honor the wisdom that has walked before me, I obey, and I refuse to walk in mothering fear and complaints that plague the internet — so perfect love will courageously win.
