Black Girl Fire

To have a fire about you that out lives you

To have a voice that speaks above your limitations

To be so bold it makes them uncomfortable

Makes them wonder what is it that you are made of

Whats that dark stuff on your skin ?

Does it cause your rebellion ?

What is it about you that has you constantly believing that you are able ?

What is it that drives you ?

Why is it people listen to your voice ?

Is it the pitch ? Or the picture you create ?

Is it the message? Or the power it conveys ?

Is it your fight ? Or the fire in your eyes

Black girl ; why are you so full of yourself ..

Swaying up and down as if you have no pains

Pride in your curves as if you have no faults

Sharpness in your tongue as if highly educated

Bareness in your soul as if vulnerable

Power in your arms as if you carry the word

Shine as if magic !

Glorious in every stride

Humble in ever strife

Unchanged by the elements

Strengthened by the hardships
