Introduction

Hello,

I’m a Russian speaking Ukrainian who dreams of mastering a skill of writing in English.

I always wanted to be a writer, a professional one. Though I’ve never managed to finish a novel. I have several short stories, which are far from perfect. I know I need to learn how to write good, but I lose ardor too quickly. From blogs about writing I know, that it’s a common problem. Every amateur author (and professional too) start procrastinating at some point and this procrastination becomes so deep that the author just gives up. By the way, procrastination was the thing that made me wandering through the blogs about writing.

Another thing I would like to learn is English. It’s much better than average in Ukraine, but it’s still lame. It’s even worse than those short stories I’ve written in Russian. So I have two goals: become a writer and become a skillful English speaker.

And yesterday I recalled a great idea from the world of my profession. I’m a project manager in IT and a former software developer. And the Idea that struck me is the following: the best way to learn a new programming language is to create something using the language. And I thought to my self, “Dude, why haven’t you ever applied the rule to a non-programming language like English?”

It took me a couple of minutes to decide what this something should be and here we are! A Medium blog! A perfect idea as becoming a blogger is another of my longliving dreams!

So what this blog is going to be about?

I don’t know, but lets imagine some options:

1. First of all I’ll use it for writing skills practicing.
2. First of all again — English improvement.
3. A lot of random stuff based on (1) and (2)
4. Some tips for the people who has the same goals as I do.
5. Music
6. Something else.

Perhaps, at some point I’ll choose some main topic to write about, but it won’t happen right now.

What do I want from you?

I want you to be my critics and my grammar-nazi. Destroy everything I write here with you responses. Hate my style and my words usage, and let me know about this in the most brutal way you can. But please, don’t write anything if you don’t like me personally. My writings are the only thing to be hated!

I’m joking, hate me as well if you want.

Regularity

I will definitely not write every day. It’s to hard to puke some text in a non-native language that often. But lets see.

That’s it for now. I hope it will be an interesting adventure and you will help me to reach my goals! I swear to list everyone of you to the first page of my first book as my teachers.
