During the Kargil War, Captain Vikram Batra was deployed in the treacherous terrain of Dras sector, where he displayed unparalleled valor and leadership. On June 19, 1999, during the operation to recapture Point 5140, also known as Point 4875, he led his troops fearlessly despite heavy enemy fire. During the assault, he climbed up a sheer cliff face under the cover of darkness, showing exceptional courage and determination.
