Urdu, The Greatest Memorial Of Muslim Dynasty In India
Urdu is the third greatest language of the world & is mostly spoken in Southern Asia. It’s more sweeter than many languages because it has adopted the sweetness of Persian, easiness of Hindi and the eloquence of Arabic. It has adopted qualities of Sanskrit & local dialects. Urdu is the greatest memorial of Muslim in Sub-Continent.
Brief History of Urdu
Muslims from the very early days were the lovers of learning & knowledge. It’s a fact like the day light that Muslim Emperors of India were devoted to the progress of learning ,literature and art. They developed and changed the old infrastructure of India . From life style to architecture, the features of India were made totally changed. Their influence after centuries, is still visible and is valued by foreigner.
Urdu has grown up in Muslim Dynasty. British. English Rulers wanted to make less the influence of Persian and then will give priority to English, as Muslims were more attached to Persian. During Muslim reign, medium of instruction was also Persian. Fort William College of Calcutta was established in 1918. Jhon Gilchrist, a Scottish surgeon and linguist was the first Principal of it.
Fort William College became a center for Urdu prose. The language they taught was meant for young British people to acquire practical knowledge for administrative purposes and not for the native speakers of the language. Urdu writers wrote & translated many books under the leadership of Gilchrist. Mulla Wajhi is the first URDU PROSE WRITER.
The Role of “Dakkan” India is unforgettable in the progress of this language. Wali Dakanai is the first poet of Urdu. Mulvi Nazir Ahmad is the first Novelist while Munshi Praim Chand is the first Urdu Fiction Writer. Urdu Poetry & “Urdu Afsana” (Fiction) are popular most popular.
The Sweetness and Politeness of
It’s a special quality of Urdu Language that for others a respected word “ Aap” is used. It uses for singular as will as plural. Most of Urdu Speakers’ intonation is decent.
Urdu Literature is very colorful & full of diversity. After her birth, in a very short time, Urdu Literature progressed. Its remarkable work is admired by the Literary World. Its poetry, fiction and novel can be presented proudly in any part of the world.
Some evergreen verses from Urdu Poetry :
Mir Taqi Mir Says,
Jo iss shor se Meer rota rahe ga
To kahe ku hamsaya sota rahega
Translation :
Mir says that when Mir is weeping, so loudly then how his neighbor will be sleeping .
1: Mirza Ghalib says,
“Phir mujhe Deeda yeTar yad Aaya
Dil jigar tishna e Faryad aaya,
Ghalib says that once again my heart is sinking with grief & want to cry when I have evoked the tearful eyes at the time of separation.
2 : Main ne Majnu ke laldakpan mein Asad
Sang uthaya tha ke sar yad aaya”.
In childhood, I took a stone to throw upon a mad person but,( at once) reminded my own head”.
3: Dekhna taqreer ky lazzat ke ju us ne kaha
Main ne ye samjha keh goya ye bhi mere dil main hai
Mirza Ghalib , the legendary poet of Urdu, says that there is so beauty & reality in his words that he thought that his sayings are his feelings ( he pointed out to his poetry that inspired every one & every reader think that Ghalib has described his feelings)
Momin says, Tum mere pass rehte ho goya
. . . . . . . Jab koi doosra nahi hota
( when no one is there with me , then its like that you are with me)
Allama Iqbal (says,
Uthale main kuch warq lale ne, kuch nargis ne, kuch gul ne
Chaman main har taraf bikhry huiye hai dastan mairy
( Some leaves / pages are picked up /carried by lily , some by nargis & some by rose

Faiz Ahmad Faiz says,
Har chara gar ko chara gari se guraiz tha
Warna hamain ju dukh the barde laa dawa na the
( Every Healer has shirked treatment, although my disease is not incurable ).
Ahmad Faraz Says,
Ab ke ham bechrde tu shayad kabhi khwabon main mele
Jis tarah sokhe hue phool kitabon mein mile
(Now , while we are leaving but in the next coming period, we may meet in books like dried flowers).
