We Indians have fetish for jewelries and somewhere we are stuck between our own traditional jewelry and the international trends. This year International trend has too much of boldness and loud statements. Our Indian tradition jewelries have already made a mark in the world of fashion accessories. We prefer being subtle along with following current trends. Listed 15 trends of 2018 which we Indians can follow by pairing up their attires and stay in vogue with the fashion.

1. Celestial

Celestial motifs took birth in 2017 and it’s wonder entered in the world of accessories also. Moon and stars jewelry are new types of charms now. Orbiting stones defying the law of gravity, planet rotations compile the whole universe in your body. The combination of zodiac along with those open skies completes this celestial world.

2. Asymmetrical

Also known as mix and match earrings. It kind of looks like you have lost an earring and were in a rush to grab any earring which is similar to each other, so you ended up wearing it.

3. Unfinished Stone

Also called Rough Stone Jewelry draws inspiration from old civilizations when those rich gemstones had no technology to undergo finishing. These jewelry look rich and have aura of their own.

4. Collar Pins

Formals are no more boring and no need to feel accessory deprived in your office wear now. Collar pin or collar brooch or collar chain are here to accessorize you in minimal way, providing uniqueness in your shirts and making your own statement.

5. Pearls

Pearls are classic and can be worn on any garments. This year pearls can be seen as an amalgamation with any other trend. Pearls in Chandeliers, statement jewelry, layering or as tassels, it can mix itself as easily as river in ocean.

6. Metal Tassels

Thread tassels are passé. It got upgraded with metals, stop taking tension that my tassel got dirty because of the pollution and how will I clean it? Fabric Tassels are also getting replaced with pearls (like Sui-Dhaaga format)

7. Anklets and Body Jewelry

Let’s go beyond our normal jewelry category and try dainty pieces of jewelry on every part of our body. Decorate your body with chains, pearls, metals, tassels and keep feeling beautiful. Summer, shorts, skort and those chunky chains on thighs, tell me a sexier combination i will wait. Find yourself contemplating with anklets or thigh chains. Flaunt, just flaunt. Indian traditional jewelry have evolved beautifully with those ankle cuffs, back layers and maangtika.

8. Ghungroo

As musical as it may sound, ghungroo has always been known for it’s charming way for attracting crowd. About time ghungroo found its place again in the world of jewelry but this time it is not restricted to anklets.

9. Afghan Tribal Jewelry

Banjara inspired tribal jewelry is a trend all over the world and we Indians just realized we had it all the time worn by our Banjara community or Kutchi Tribes. Multicoloured stones, oxidised silver, ghungroo, old coins, enamel, bright and vibrant hues sums up the jewelry. Tribal women wear a lot of traditional ornaments such as head-pieces, earrings, necklaces, anklets, waist belts and more. Show your inner Nomad or maybe present yourself as gypsy with those exuberant, joyful, and eclectic pieces of metals.

10. Hammered

Geometric shape metals having visual effect of being hammered and given the form. These jewellery are looks matt, niche and mostly 2D form.

11. Layers

Chokers are so 2017, so for your new alternative, opt for a layered necklace. It features a short chain that should fit like a delicate choker, with longer chains as an added bonus. Layers are not restricted to neck pieces only but can also been seen in staking as finger rings and cluster of earrings.

12. Larger than life

Extraordinart earring, xxl size, dropping on the shoulders, chunky chains, volume necklaces, etc. Tbh, they’re kind of scary, they’re just so BIG, like out there it feel as though ear lobe would definitely rip or maybe neck will get stiff developing shoulder pain. The bigger (and longer) the better will be this year’s mantra.

13. Hierarchy

Hierarchy drop jewelry is step by step layering in the same design making it a long repeating pattern. These are mostly statement jewelry which makes you look like a diva.

14. Olive Leaf

Inspired by Olive branch, it depicts peace, health and abundance blending its’s sophistication with tints of spring. It reflects the inner peace, calmness and simplicity. It doesn’t need to be paired with particular style and can be worn as day to day fashion.

15. Chandeliers

Chandbali, please step aside and make way for Chandeliers now. Always been a classic statement, chandeliers are class in itself. It doesn’t need any introduction.

Make a combination of any these trends and just flaunt them.
