Now We Know Why Microsoft Bought LinkedIn
Jessi Hempel

MS’ LI acquisition to me is a defensive move to protect outdated equity. MS ‘owning’ today’s institutionalised corporate business users and LI ‘owning’ today’s database of corporate professionals who diligently filled out LI’s forms about irrelevant data about their past such as their education details.

It’s a defensive move to hold on to the past. LI has little benefit to people entering the workforce today, and frankly Excel, Word, Powerpoint and PowerBI don’t either.

My 2 cents, but I can’t see any edge as to how this 26Bn splurge is going to make the world a better place for future generations.
