Everything begins with an objective

If you work in a big organization, you might be familiar with the terms “vision”, “mission,” and “values.” These three things act like a compass for organizations.
Now if we are comparing ourselves to an organization, then we should have these three things as well, right? So let’s familiarize ourselves with them.
First, a vision tells us what we want to be in the future. We have to be clear about this — how do you see yourself in the future? For example, if you want to be a billionaire, want to have a lot of free time, or want to travel the world, then write it down as your vision.
Second, a mission answers the question of “why we exist” or “what we are here for.”
Whoa! This one seems difficult; it is very philosophical. But no, you do not really have to make it that complicated.
The thing is that in order to achieve our vision, we have to have a focus. For example, if you want to have billions of dollars, it does not mean that you have to do everything, from making toothpicks to building battleships. If we look at most successful people, we will see that they focus on what they are interested in and good at.
Bill Gates likes computers, and he got rich from computers. Warren Buffet likes investing and he got rich from investing.
The same goes for all of us. We have to know what we like and what we are good at, then write it down as our mission. For example,
“I want to be the national’s number one best-selling author of inspirational stories.”
“I will be an investor who has a billion-dollar portfolio.”
Third is our values. Values are things we really believe in, which become our life principles.
For example, if honesty is one of your values, and you come across a duplicitous opportunity that will make you rich, you will not take the opportunity, because it goes against your values.
Try writing your vision, mission, and values down, because they are vital for building success measures.
