Nora : 1 Start Today

START. I met my friends kidhack. (Alex) and Pete for lunch, and agreed to watch Alex’s cat while they are all out of town. A few years ago, I would not be sure I should agree to something like cat sitting, uncertainty plagued me from my present, and hindered me from my future. Ironically, my bond with Alex exists because I said yes to seeing him dj after work back in 2007, when we both worked at Punchcut. Somewhere after those years of many fresh starts, I got lost in the world of delays and overthinking when is the right time. Back then, I said to almost everything, and maybe lacked the wisdom to filter my YES for the things that I should START.

If I could go back in time to a couple years ago to advise myself, I would say, start putting everything you create out into the universe, then try to fix and filter it (as needed). Living, working, and being surrounded by/ with startup folks, has taught me to take the idea of “push early, push often”, and not just apply it to business, but to apply that mindset to other parts of my life.

Last year I decided to start 1 thing fresh per week, now I have grown from that to be someone with a lot of new experiences, and a better understanding of what I can or cannot do, along with what I wish to keep doing, given the choice to continue. Saying yes to new starts based on having filtered out what I am not into, has led me to new adventures, and reconnecting with those who try to start new things often, such as my good friend Alex.

START.

I’m dedicating my first post to Io, the most loving cat and my first cat sitting in ages. #meow is likely going to be my next post.

This is my first daily post, based on a conversation I had with my friend Heidi K. Isern who seems to think i can be funny and/or insightful. I hope this leads to more daily quick musings by me.
