Interesting take on the story. You credit Victor with an insight and sensitivity he never displays in the original book.

I re-read the book just a couple of years ago, and was amazed to see what an egotistical, self-absorbed, unsympathetic putz Victor is!

Mary Shelley was a very insightful young woman. If only Victor had felt some love and understanding for his creation from the beginning, none of its hateful actions would have ever been committed.

It's not true that he had no choice but to become a monster. Victor's lack of compassion turned him into one.
