When Deceased Friends Send You Requests to Play Candy Crush on Facebook

Sometimes you feel like playing games, and sometimes you don’t. But when I started getting requests to “Play Candy Crush” from deceased friends — multiple times per week, it was time for me to block that app.

Maybe your situation is not that drastic, but if you ever want to end those annoying requests — or get rid of a troll in your comments here’s your answer. And it’s not difficult, once you know how to get it done.

So to block an app on Facebook you must open a web browser and log into your Facebook account. Click the downward arrow at the top right of the screen..

Then choose “Settings” from the drop-down list.

You’re doing great! OK, now on the next screen, choose the “Blocking” tab. Doesn’t that sound good?

choose the Blocking tab here.

For some reason this “Blocking” tab seems to be one of Facebook’s best kept secrets. You’ve found it now though. So go to the very bottom of the page and see the option to block apps.

Start typing the name of the app into the text field. Then select the app you want to block from the list that appears.

Find your app, select it, and BOOM — you’re done!

I’m looking at you Candy Crush Saga

In the screen shot above, I’m showing you how to block Candy Crush Saga requests on Facebook — which at the time of this post has 50-million+ monthly users. You probably noticed that it’s sister game, Candy Crush Soda Saga has 10-million+.

The process is the same to block “Meow Cat” or any other Facebook app requests. And, no worries, if you ever change your mind and want to play the game, just return to this option and click Unblock next to its name.

Alternatively, if you want to turn off the notifications, without blocking the app, you can wait until you receive one, then hover your cursor over the notification. A little circle and an ‘x’ should appear. Click on the ‘x’. You will now be presented with two buttons, one to turn off notifications from this app and the other to keep them on. Click ‘Turn off’ and you should stop receiving the notifications.

You may want to check out the additional options on the blocking page. You can block users, messages, app invites and more. So if your Facebook is a little out of control, one trip to this page can restore some sanity.

What causes you to use the block?
