The Marginalization of Black Lives Matter Through The Death of MLK

“If it’s a lie, then we fight on that lie!”- Slim Charles
As we look back on the life of Martin Luther King Jr, one must also remember the civil trial won by the King family in 1999. Conspiracies held by many that the government had something to do with his death was put on trial and a jury decided that those theories held some form of truth.
The mobilization of a group to fight over injustice was enough to have our US govt infiltrate street gangs, NOI, and even groups of protesters led by preachers who used non-violence as the charter by which they operated. Why? I think it is a rhetorical question for most but of course you always ask why?
In 2015 we saw protests become the main voice of the underprivileged and under represented. With movements chanting “Black Lives Matter” there was automatic opposition making sure that we highlight “All Lives Matter”. This only rings true though for Americans who hold on to the values of the majority in this country. All Lives doesn’t seem to matter based on religion or racial status when it threatens the status quo, but that is another post for another time.
Martin Luther King Jr’s name was used as the symbol by those who wanted to belittle the Black Lives Matter movement. The idea that a man who was assassinated by the same government who use to oppress the black community is somehow suppose to be the guiding light for peaceful protest by those who hold strong prejudices to people of color is asinine.
Mobilization by a group of our under represented to fight for their rights is met with death and destruction. But let them tell it, the black community is the breeding ground for savagery with no purpose. For some reason there can be no explanation of why poverty is rampant within inner city communities, in the mind of most it just is what it is. The lies that develop underfunded schools, underpaid jobs, and lack of upward mobility was built decades ago. But you know what for those that want to see you oppressed it does not matter if it was a lie or not because:
You have to fight on that lie!
