Today I treated myself to something special

Well, I did it today.. I have actually gone and given myself a huuuge treat! A couple of weeks back I thought that I would treat myself to something nice as I was feeling stressed, worn out and a little bit down. Winter is really here with the cold and the snow and the horrible wind, and summer has faded to a distant memory. As I am getting older, I am starting to notice these little lines and wrinkles, which frankly, doesn't mean that much to me, because it shows that my face has lived, laughed, frowned, felt the sun and the wind. How a face should be, full of life in my opinion. However, what I don't like is the dark spots that shows that I haven't taken care of my face properly. And, yes, it did cost me a bit but it was worth it! And I think I deserved it.

The treatment was micro needling. The treatment uses a tool with small needles to penetrate the skin to stimulate the collagen production and also increase the absorption of different creams and serums being used. It creates an intentional damage to the skin, which triggers the skin to produce more collagen and elastin. As we age the skin produce less and less collagen and elastin, and the quality is not that good either. It can help our skin heal from acne scars, pigmentation and rosacea. Well, I felt like I fit in this group, and just had to try it.

What can I say about the actual treatment. Well not too pleasant, as you can well imagine. We are talking about getting needles jammed in to our face. Sounds more like a horror movie. But, I have had tattoos and similar procedures done, so I survived this treatment too. When the therapist had finished the “needling”, there was masks and creams. And as a bonus she gave me a scalp massage! So nice. Feeling the stress and tension leaving my head and shoulder, and out through my arms, heaven! Absolutely loved it. The treatment was a bit pricey, but it was worth it. Not sure, at the moment, if I will do it again though.

Now, you can do this treatment at home at a fraction of the cost. But, how safe it is I don't know. We are talking about penetrating the skin to create a reaction. And by penetrating the skin we are also introducing an opening for bacteria to come through. This can then cause infections to the skin. Also if used wrong, it can cause scarring to the skin, which is what you are trying to get rid of in the first place. I would advice to go to a trained professional to have it done. Not just for the safety aspect of it, but also for the opportunity to pamper yourself properly. An excellent serum containing actives that promote collagen can be used as a substitute for micro needling. Copper peptides is a solid option. They eliminate any damaged collagen and elastin in addition to promoting the production of these substances. Lysyl oxidase is an enzyme that connects collagen and elastin, and copper is essential to its function. One such serum to try would be Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Prime Sleep Tight Mask and Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Firming Elasticity Repair. Products that contains all the right ingredients. Sure they may be a little pricey, but aren't you worth it? Christmas is just around the corner so it could well be written on Santa's list.

After the treatment, red faced and raw (just feeling it, not the look) was another treat waiting for me! Meeting up with a dear childhood friend for lunch. Nothing fancy or special, but oh so good due to being able to vent out all the rubbish I needed to vent, and all the rubbish she had to vent. A best friend is like a waste basket. You get rid off all the negativity that has gathered up for a while, and your best friend will listen, and most of the time agree. Best form of treatment there is. What a fantastic day. I am renewed in several ways.

I really hope you will support me on Ko-fi. I will keep on creating stories about my likes, my life, and share my experiences on how to better life. Hopefully you will find this enjoyable and gain some insights into how you can do the same.
