How To Stop Overthinking: My only rule…

Hint: Its only a sticky note :)

I’m often asked this question, and trust me, I still grapple with it from time to time. It’s because we all need a recurring nudge to break free from overthinking.

To stop overthinking, you need a clear mind — one that’s not cluttered with the baggage of yesterdays, last week’s or last month’s worries, not to mention those from last year or even the past several decades. So, the key is to consistently remind ourselves to empty our thoughts and embrace clarity.

Firstly, when you’re faced with a decision, especially if it’s not an urgent matter (because that requires a different mindset), try to tackle it early in the day. This way, you can make your decision without the burden of decision fatigue weighing you down.

Secondly, give yourself a clear deadline by which you need to make your decision. Once that decision is made, commit to not second-guessing yourself or dwelling on whether it was the right choice.

As entrepreneurs we are always caught in the web of overthinking, constantly striving for perfection. It’s time to break free from analysis paralysis and start taking decisive action.

The one rule I swear by is having this sticky note (shown above) placed all around me. It’s truly magical! 😄
