A measuring spoon is used to measure an amount of an ingredient, either liquid or dry when cooking. Measuring spoons may be made of plastic, metal, and other materials. They are available in many sizes, including the teaspoon and tablespoon.

To measure dry ingredients use measuring cups.
Spoon flour or other light, powdery dry ingredients into your measuring cup until it domes over the top. (Don’t scoop with the cup and shake off the excess, as this will cause the ingredient to become slightly packed, and you’ll end up with more than the recipe calls for.
