BBC Reporter John McManus Compares Trans People to Paedophile; Jimmy Savile

I don’t even know what’s wrong with these people, but fuck me is it something.

I think this is a photo of BBC’s John McManus, taken as a screenshot from a news segment he was giving. It might not be him though, I have no idea what he looks like but this was uploaded to a YouTube channel under his name so I’m just gonna assume its him.

John McManus, a BBC reporter and producer with over 19 years at the BBC according to his LinkedIn, has taken to Twitter to compare trans people to Jimmy Savile. In a handful of tweets he posted an article talking about BBC staff who fought through fear of losing their jobs to get the truth out about Savile and compared those women with the BBC’s recent platforming of hateful anti-trans conspiracy theories.

As always, we start with a little context. Recently the BBC came under fire from the trans community and basically any decent human being who was aware of the situation. This time for platforming the hateful anti-trans conspiracy theory that trans women are basically predators trying to coerce and rape lesbian cis women. The evidence base for this was a survey by a dedicate hate group of 80 women, of which only just over half claimed it had happened to them, a couple of testimonies from the perspective of people in hate groups and just in general the statement of bigots. Trans people and allies were approached for comment; but when you’re approached with such blatant conspiracy theory nonsense the only answer is “fuck right off love”, so naturally none were included.
