Sometimes when people transition they later on decide to reverse that and become what’s known as ‘a detransitioner’ or someone who has detransitioned. Charlie Evans set up The Detransition Advocacy Network (TDAN) as an attempt to unify and raise the voices and profiles of these people. Something I think is pretty important too.

Its fair to say that detransitioners have a hard time, potentially even and probably often a harder time than some transgender people do. It cannot be easy to be in that position, largely because of prejudice, discrimination, inequality, a lack of support, a fear of ostracisation and a whole swathe of legal and policy issues to boot. There is still no clear and well understood way for a detransitioned person to reverse a gender recognition certificate, for example.

So I whole heartedly support initiatives for detrans people to unify, work together and fight for the things their community needs. I can, without a doubt, say that there will be no ostracisation coming from me based on their status as someone who has detransitioned. In my opinion, you haven’t really left the family just moved a few doors down, so you’re still invited to the dinner parties.
