47.40% done

Assuming all goes well for the next 14 weeks.

Today is April 25, 2016. Day 64 out of 135. (27 weeks x 5 days). I am 47.40% done.

I’ve completed 2 of the 3 requirements of getting through the 2nd module at the Turing School of Software & Design. The last thing hanging over my head is my portfolio review.

Portfolios are required to move on. It’s basically a summary of what you’ve done in the last 6 weeks. You sit with teachers and sometimes Jeff Casimir (Executive Director of Turing) and defend why you should move on to the next module. Your scores from projects are reviewed, what you did to make the community better, feedback given and received from other students. It’s a good thing to have to keep track of this stuff because I think it encourages (& forces) people to become part of the community.

The next module (3 out of 4) is supposed to be one of the hardest, most challenging modules. I’m excited, but I’m not. I know I work hard for this, I wake up at 5am every weekday to do some studying before getting ready and leaving for school. If I don’t have a project to work on, I find something related to what we’re doing in class or read into some other languages I eventually want to master (React Native, Swift, etc).

It has been a tough 13 weeks so far, but exciting. A type of excitement that spans the opportunity I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of and the challenges I’m going to be stressed and doubtful for.
