Kellie
Closing my eyes in the dark
The city flies by,
And Kellie watches me
From behind her eyes.
I feel it is getting cooler
And cooler in the air.
The evening breeze
Is painted in her hair.
Reflections pulse along my fingertips
as I watch her hands.
And I tape my mouth shut,
Just to listen, if I can.
The music screeches loudly and
Then, I am alone.
My words ring out to meet her,
But she’s already gone.
She tells me her stories,
And she listens for a while.
She isn’t fully there ,
But she likes to see me smile.
I take her face apart
And I put it in a jar.
I save it all for later
When she runs away too far.
And then she ran away so far…
Kellie says it’s good to see me,
And that might be true.
She holds on to me tight and
Of course I hold her too.
Her fingers slip,
And now she’s gone again.
The world keeps turning round,
And she’s gone,
Again.
Closing my eyes in the dark
The city flies by.
I’m here again with her
And I start to cry.
I feel it getting cooler,
And cooler in the air.
The stormy winds are painting
Black rainbows in her hair.
