Nottingham is a city in the United Kingdom known for its beautiful history and age old culture. It is located in the East Midland region of England and is recognized as one of the tourist sites in the area. It is situated 50 miles north London and is widely known throughout the country as a major sport center.

The history of Nottingham is a beautiful one that dates back to the 600 AD when the region was a part of the Kingdom of Mercia. This was during the Anglo-Saxon period and it was said to have been called “TigGuocobauc.” The area later became known as Snottigaham when the Kingdom of Mercia was headed by a man named Snot. Over the years, the name Nottingham has come to stay.

The popular Nottingham castle was built in 1068 and on the 13th century, the area was a victim of the second Baron War as the Jewish Community in the area were attacked by rebels. Further into the 15th century, Nottingham became a county corporate. In the 19th century during the industrial revolution, Nottingham textile industry experiences growth and it was a thriving industry in the city. As the area continued to develop, more businesses began to develop in the area with the inclusion of the famous Raleigh Bicycle Company. Nottingham officially received its status as a city in 1897.
