Artist No 1. Aaron Douglas -

I chose this works from Aaron Douglass because he was well known for being a major figure in and the works of art he created during the Harlem Renaissance. For his signature style during this time period, he was influenced my the Art Deco, cubism, and African art styles. His pieces feature bold silhouetted figures, representing social struggles of African Americans.

Artist No 2. Archie Boston —

I chose these works by Archie Boston because I gelt as though they illustrated a nice range of his specific style and the issues he chose to touch on in his pieces. Many of his pieces touched on social issues, specifically related to the racial issues African-Americans faced. He created bold, sometimes shocking, pieces that caused the viewer to examine racial issues.
