How to deal with daily stress? 10 tips from 10 different people

On a daily basis, we face a lot of stress which affects our behaviour towards work, friends and our surrounding network. The word stressful or stressed out is becoming more common to use for many people, unfortunately. However, this condition should not be ignored once diagnosed before it becomes a major risk to our health.

If you are metropolitan and live in a big city you’ll definitely know what I am talking about. waking up early morning and staying up until midnight is becoming a normal routine as our life is becoming more demanding and having less time to respond to these demands, our Immune system will react to this in different ways and sometimes the consequences more dangerous than we have imagined. Therefore as they say in Arabic, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Last week I did a brainstorming and tried to collect few ways of how people respond to their daily life challenges in different ways and put them in one article.

1- Practice Yoga, sport, Meditate:
One of my colleagues told me that she would wake up every day at 5:00 Am to practice Yoga. Another friend told me that exercising on a daily basis have also helped him to go through his busy routine with less stress and he could more focus on his tasks.

2- Breath in, Breath out:
Whenever I feel stuck in the middle and can’t concentrate on my studies or on my work, I take two minutes to control my breath and mostly combine this with a cup of water. this will Provide your lungs with enough oxygen and can simply help you focusing more on what you are doing.

3- Take time for yourself:
Always remember to take some time for yourself and listen to your thoughts. it’s important to listen to your inner voice and see whether if you are going in the right direction or not.

4- Follow a healthy diet:
A healthy diet will keep your body safe in moments of high pressure. What you only need to do is to plan your daily meals in advance and make sure that it includes varieties of fresh food and healthy ingredients. for some people, cooking a meal at the end of the day is considered to relieve the whole stress.

5- Get enough sleep:
Sleeping enough amount of hours will help you to go through your day with full energy and get the most out of your day. Try to go to bed early no later than 11:00 PM.

6- Keep a journal:
I tried a lot to keep a daily journal, but somehow I never managed to keep this for long. However, all my friends who did this for quite a while told me that it helped them controlling their emotion while they were writing their daily journal and express how they felt and how did they react to certain feelings during their day. So why not to consider this an option? :)

7- Learn positive thinking:
Two days ago I had flight transfer from Kuwait to Abu Dhabi. At the Airport there was a long queue of people due to a problem in the system. I panicked when I first saw this, people were complaining and I didn’t have enough time to wait for so long. However, I calmed down and started to think that everything will be alright and that I will catch my flight. After fifteen minutes, systems started working again and hopped on the plane just on time. Positive thinking helps, Always keep that in mind.

8- Have someone to talk to:
Talking to someone we trust is always a good solution to help to go through hard times. it might be difficult for some people to talk about their problems, but having the right person who would listen to your problems will make things much easier than you could imagine.

9- Treat yourself well:
Always remember to treat yourself well. if it is an ice creme or a nice t-shirt or whatever this treat might have value to you. remember to reward yourself with something from time to time. This will improve your self-confidence and motivate you more.

10- Admit your imperfection:
Being perfectionist might put more pressure on you to succeed in what you are doing. I used to be a perfectionist, but I’ve learnt that it’s okay to make mistakes and the most important thing is to learn from them, otherwise you can’t move forward.
