Just to correct a little point there about best artists… perhaps it would be wrong to confuse successful artists with quality/good/best artists. Some of the best artists were as humblest as they can be (think Vincent Van Gogh for example). Some of the most successful artists are not good at all, they are just talented in the way how to get attention within the art world. Also, I think that the article by Jon Westenberg didn’t really tried to say that artists are not arrogant and egocentric. He just said that tech entrepreneurs frequently see artists (and writers, etc) as less important then those who produce ‘disruptive tech’, and that they are too frequently ignorant of the value that artists bring to the development of society as a whole.
