Check out the answers to common questions about Nova Token, staking, and blockchain-powered in-game items.
Make sure to check out our staking guide.
What is Nova Token? Nova Token is a platform for game developers to deliver blockchain in-game items in regular mobile games, with only a simple API call. Nova Token is also a platform for game players to stake on, and share in the success of, their favorite games.
What are stake rewards? All the revenue earned by the Nova Token platform is paid out split evenly to stakers and game developers. The more you stake, the more you earn — your stake rewards are proportional to the amount you stake. The more people stake on your game, the more you earn — game developer stake rewards are proportional to the amount staked on their game.
What’s the stake bonus? Between Monday October 29th 2018 and Sunday May 26th 2019, we’ve made sure the stake rewards pool is at least 100 million Nova Tokens each week. That’s a total giveaway of 3 billion Nova Tokens.
When are stake rewards granted? Stake rewards are granted weekly, at roughly 0:00 GMT every Monday. If you have rewards to collect, you’ll see a handy “Collect Rewards” button on the site.
What happens if I change my stake during a week? Stake rewards are calculated at the end of each week, so you can change your stake during the week, and your final stake will be the one that counts.
How do I get Nova Tokens to stake? You can buy Nova Tokens on several exchanges (such as forkdelta.com), or click the “Buy Nova Tokens” button on our site.
How do I stake on a game? Once you’ve bought some Nova Tokens, go to the staking page. Pick a game to stake on and click “Stake”. You’ll be asked to deposit your Nova Token (they have to be deposited to the smart contract before they can be staked). Once you’ve deposited them, your browser will update, and you can click “Stake” to stake the tokens.

Game Developer FAQs
How do I submit a game? Go to the Developers page and click “new game”. You’ll need your game’s name, website, and a logo and a key art image. Once you’ve done that, tell your players to stake on your game — you can send them the sharing link, and they’ll be able to stake right away.
What happens when people stake on my game? You get a portion of the weekly stake rewards, based on the total Nova Tokens staked on your game. Check out our staking guide for more information.
Can I submit a game that’s not finished? Absolutely. You’ll get stake rewards as people stake on your game, just like a fully released game. You could even point your game’s URL to your Kickstarter page.
Ethereum transactions are expensive and slow. How can this even work? We’ve built the in-game items system on a layer 2 side chain. That gives us the security of Ethereum with almost instant transaction times, and no gas costs (like any software service, we pay hosting and bandwidth fees, but we don’t pass those on to you). So, delivering a blockchain item to a player only takes a second, and is free.
How much does this all cost? While we’re getting everything set up? Nothing. It’s totally free. And there will always be a “free trial” level that allows you to develop and test your game. By late 2019, we expect to have several pricing options for games, based on amount of usage. Costs will be kept to a minimum, so your pricing will be predictable and inexpensive — in line with similar non-blockchain services.
Where are your smart contracts? You can read and interact with our smart contracts on Etherscan via the links below. There will be additional contracts posted on our layer 2 chain for managing game data, token data, and token sales and auctions without paying gas costs.
Nova Token contract — the ERC20 token that powers the whole ecosystem
Nova Staking contract — the contract for managing staking, rewards, etc.
Nova Game contract — the contract for managing game-related information
