The Science Behind CBD Oil

Cannabidiol is one of the most abundant cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis plants, both marijuana and hemp. There is a fair amount of evidence of its efficacy in treating people with serious seizures when no other medications are able to help. CBD oil can be made from either plant by stripping the compounds from the plants themselves, but even in places where hemp is completely legal the legality of hemp-based CBD oil is hotly debated.

There are always anecdotes about the efficacy of CBD oil in treating patients, but so far the science is still lagging. Companies are likely cautious about getting into development of a product which has dubious legal standing, but so far the evidence is overwhelming that CBD oil can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments. Unfortunately developers are in somewhat of a catch-22. They can’t legally make medical claims, which can put some potential patients off, while they also can’t afford to do research without the patient base to support it financially. Some independent laboratory testing exists, but double blind medical studies are practically nonexistent.
