Hi. I’ve been reading on this subject in the 3Million group on Facebook, and the complications you summarise here do affect a lot of people. New members join every week, there’s no FAQ that can satisfy or console them!

Since I’m the kid of guy who reads T&Cs and EULAs, I’m still astounded that I only found out about the Certificate for Permanent Residence and the Certificate of Registration so recently.

If there’s one thing that I can say to newcomers to the UK and those who don’t qualify for PR certificate… it is to get a Registration Certificate. We’d probably do the same thing in other EU27 countries, therefore the lack of enforcement in the UK should not stop us from going ahead and getting some sort of evidence of our arrival.
