Broken Tree

Trees do make a sound when they fall

And the ones around it for sure run away as fast as they can

And the ones who are not close turn around to watch

To watch and see if the branch that fell would make the whole tree miss it

Miss it enough to want to break itself down even more

More and more into smaller branches

Branches that hug the air as they fall and break the nests on them

Trees that once were very vast and tall are not broken twigs on the ground

Branches become toys for dogs and trophies for gardeners like the Cinderella of “Brother’s Grimm” who asked for a branch and not a dress.

These were once very tall trees that we were scared of.

And now all their glories lay on the ground broken into pieces.

All the pieces will grow to be another tall one to break.
