In order for a prosecutor to do the job, the prosecutor needs the cooperation of the police. Police are like a fraternity and prosecutors know not to pursue a case against an officer under normal circumstances or they’ll be in a heap of trouble.

Yes, it’s always been specific officers who pull the triggers and no, they don’t represent all officers nor do they represent all white officers. Happy? That’s super, super, super obvious, but if it makes you feel better, yes, let’s say that one more time. Let’s all agree one more time that not all white officers are bad. Let’s focus on there being lots of good white officers. You got it. Thumbs up. Not all of them. Bad apples. Isolated incidents. Every single time. Isolated.

Now can we also acknowledge that other officers act like a fraternity and cover for them whenever they can? Can we acknowledge that prosecutors softball it for them. Can we acknowledge that indictments against officers are oddly rare even though when it’s not an officer the common knowledge is that you can “indict a ham sandwich”?

Are you in that much denial that you think the system is basically treating an officer like any citizen?
