It’s a big family. Extended family. I don’t think you get what it would take to uproot. A dozen jobs, multiple houses, kids in all levels of school. Two parents and their kids uproot for work or because, or crime, or racist cops, but a huge extended family doesn’t unless they’re refugees. That’s pretty much the reality of it.

And again, they shouldn’t have to. That’s important. Nothing of this kind improves without demanding it improves.

What should happen is, the officers should stop pulling them over. But hey, they’re bad apples, let’s say, so their fellow officers should make them stop pulling them over. They’re bruised apples, I guess then? Then the police chief should make them stop pulling them over. Take it to court, and the prosecutor should help make them stop pulling them over. None of that is happening. And that’s not just here. That’s a lot of places.

So, is it a huge conspiracy? Not in my opinion. It’s cultural. Same root causes showing up in different places for similar reasons. Each place with its own degree. It’s a lot of apathy, not seeing what the big deal is, about pulling over anyone you feel is suspicious-looking.

“when all one wants to do is live their own life better”

Nah to that. You can live how you want, but there’s a time to run and there’s a time to stop running and face the problems. And that takes a toll.

So we can try to support the people trying to point out the problems or we can tear those people down for over-reaching because we don’t want to believe the problems are so large.
