RIP Pebble Watch

Pebble is dead — -there I said it. Kudos to the team for creating a great e-ink watch and trying to create an app ecosystem. But, you just can’t compete with Apple watch. I’m an early adopter and have sported the Pebble since it launched with Kickstarter. It changed my life — simply declining calls in meetings, reading text messages with a glance as a bike, etc. However, what really ticked me off was the poor user experience-8 clicks to turn the device off. No real menu or interaction changes since the launch. The app ecosystem blows.

Two days in, I am loving the apple watch. It does exactly what I need it to and more. The user experience completely trumps Pebble. The app marketplace is way more robust and useful. I’m sure Pebble Time will be nice, and they could iterate on it but the apple experience is too much to compete with. With healthy competition the consumer wins, but in this race Pebble may as well declare defeat.
