“What did you do this summer?”

Fancy internship? Go to the beach? Get hammered with your friends?

Staying home all day every day, starting a business? Bingo.

A bit about me: I’m 21 years old and about to enter my senior year of college. In my high school youth group, BBYO, I learned that one person can change the world, and I quite literally took that mindset into college as I started project after project. Caps for Cancer, #StopSnapDriving, NiceNotes, DailyDonate, Dollars Fight Back, and now HYPE…I’ve spent my first 3 years of college starting businesses with the simple, super vague goal of getting people to do action that makes a difference. This mission has consumed me: it’s why I’m studying business, it’s why I mentor other college students with starting their own business through Social Impact 360, it’s why you’re reading this now.

I’m starting this blog for any other high school and college student who wants to create something that makes people’s lives better. I hope that my experiences, the good and the bad, can inspire you to follow your own passions and impact other people’s lives. I know what it’s like to want to do something different than everyone around you, to do something big that makes this world a better place. Us young people, we’re the ones who dictate the future. And the time to start is now.

Each article will include a different lesson I’ve learned over the past few years, along with a firsthand look on what it’s like starting a business. Stay tuned — it’s going to be a fun ride!
