I wonder what specifically is wrapped up in this claim — the part of town, which is populated by lower-socioeconomic status (and predominantly African American) residents? The fact that it certainly doesn’t ‘feel’ like what we think a conventional gallery should feel like (ie NCMA or even CAM)?
