What is Afro Futurism

Afrofuturism, an artistic and intellectual movement that envisions a future where Black people reclaim their divinity and receive the respect they deserve, is no longer a distant concept.

From cultural icons like Black Panther and the Idea of a the Global SuperPowered City of Wakanda. And Pharoh Sanders with his Music and Outfits that depicted Black People as a Godly beings, to the intellectual and creative movements of the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Power movement. Afrofuturism has continuously evolved.

Today, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are witnessing a powerful resurgence of Afrofuturism as Black individuals embrace their inherent value, unlock their talents, and find their tribes based on shared consciousness and ideologies.

The Nu Africa Vision:

At Nu Africa, we are dedicated to facilitating this transformative process. Founded by Nile Amenawon Nkosi Ferrell in the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nu Africa Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides platforms and opportunities for artists and entrepreneurs of the African Diaspora in Brooklyn to unite, collaborate, and showcase their divine talents.

Our initial endeavors included collaborative photoshoots, art galleries, and artist marketplaces, fostering creative exchange and friendship among visionary artists such as Senegalese Photographer Assane Gaye.

Nu Africa has also supported projects like the podcast “After The Wake,” created by writer and publicist Amber Worsley. This podcast celebrated the empowering perspectives emerging among Black women, shedding light on their resilience and their journey towards self-discovery and empowerment. By featuring and hosting Black women artists and cultural leaders, the podcast encouraged self-expression and creativity even during times when such endeavors were discouraged.

Afro Technical Revolution:

With the rapid advancement of technology, particularly Blockchain Technology and AI, the time is ripe for Afrofuturism to manifest. The visions left by our ancestors over the past century can now be harnessed and implemented more swiftly than ever before. Through the integration of these emerging technologies, we have the potential to bring their dreams of Black freedom to fruition in less than a hundred years.

Since 2021, Nu Africa has been actively collaborating with esteemed organizations such as Rapha Art Life Center, R-House, Crypto Research and Development Lab, and various community-based initiatives. Together, we strive to provide essential education on Blockchain and AI technologies to the African Diaspora. Our goal is to equip communities with the knowledge and infrastructure needed to lay the foundation for resilient Black sovereign economies. By fostering trust, collaboration, and active engagement, we aim to create a decentralized network of Black communities that support and uplift one another.

Through these collaborative efforts, we are dedicated to promoting economic empowerment and self-sustainability within the African Diaspora. By offering education on Blockchain and AI, we enable individuals and communities to harness the transformative potential of these technologies. Understanding their capabilities empowers Black individuals to participate in the global digital economy and cultivate thriving communal cultures built on mutual trust and collaboration.

Our focus extends beyond education alone. We aim to provide practical support by offering infrastructure and resources for implementing Blockchain and AI solutions within communities. By leveraging these technologies, we can build robust economies that are capable of sustaining themselves while nurturing a sense of collective ownership and empowerment.
