ALL YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW!

Do you need everything organised and in place before you begin — or should you just jump in and have a go?

Is waiting until everything is perfect a form of procrastination and a way of avoiding possible failure or ridicule?

Is it really necessary to get ‘all your ducks in a row’ before you set off on your journey of discovery?

Well, of course, I don’t think so. It’s scary starting any new venture, no matter what it is, and it seems sensible, really, to want to be fully prepared — but how do you know what ‘fully’ prepared really is? How do you know which way your path will bend or take you?

You can try to get organised — to have thought things through and made plans and fall back plans — but life doesn’t necessarily follow our stratagems. Things happen which are out of our control — and, no matter, how prepared we are for our intended journey we still, sometimes, have to ‘wing it’! And, undoubtedly, that can be terrifying but so rewarding and, in hindsight, we realise what a lot of fun it was and just how much we’ve learned.

My philosophy is: a bit of research, learn enough to get by, then jump in and have a go. You’ll learn much more through trial and error than from reading books or from google.

If you get your ducks in a row before you press go.

Will that guarantee you’re top of the tree?

Be properly prepared before it can work

But, isn’t that a way to simply delay?

Need your ducks in a row before you press go

But what if that’s wrong and you’d still get along?

You just jump right in and find you can swim

You’re not prepared but you make it work

And up you go

Without your ducks in a row!

There’s NO CHEEKY CHALLENGE this week. I’m still working on the first two, which are taking quite a bit of time as getting hold of the ‘right’ people is a difficult task. I’ve had no response from anyone, as yet. Of course, I accept that I may be completely ignored as I know from my time writing for the women’s magazines that they will be inundated with ideas and usually only respond if they are interested. So, to be honest, I’m not buying my outfit for my Loose Women appearance!! Although, if it happens….. I’ve got things I could wear!

Christmas is on the horizon, as you’ve probably realised, and I’m booked solidly up to Christmas Day so, with time at a premium, I’m only planning one blog this month.
