Under the Same Roof: a personal documentary

We live under the same roof, but we have entirely different lifestyles. We see each other every day, yet our lives only seem to meet at a tangent.

同じ屋根の下で暮らしていても、私たちの生活のリズムは全く違う。毎日お互いの顔を見合わせるのに、私たちは一瞬しか交じり合わないようだ。

เราอาศัยอยู่ภายใต้หลังคาเดียวกันแต่เรามีวิถีชีวิตที่แตกต่างกันโดยสิ้นเชิง เราพบกันทุกวัน แต่ชีวิตของเราดูเหมือนจะพโคจรมาเจอกันเพียงชั่วระยะหนึ่ง

Swing Kongtundee (Sorn) works as a full-time domestic helper in the Suphantarida household. Pitcha Suphantarida (Nuey) is a student currently studying in her final year of university in Japan. Sorn is an employee. Nuey is the daughter of the Sorn’s employer. But is that all there is to the relationship? Over one year, Nuey slowly learns more about Sorn. This video may perhaps, be an attempt to understand the relationship between the two.

スイング・コンタンディー（ソーン）は、スパンタリダー家でフルタイムのドメスチックヘルパーとして働いている。ピッチャー・スパンタリダー（ヌイ）は、日本の大学で最終学年として勉強しているの学生。ソーンは雇い人。ヌイはソーンの雇い主の娘。しかし、関係はそれだけなのだろうか。ヌイは一年の間に、少しずつソーンのことを知っていこうと決めた。この映像はもしかしたら、二人の関係性を理解しようとする試みなのかもしれない。

สวิง ตงทันดี (สอน) มีอาชีพทำงานแม่บ้านประจำบ้านของครอบครัวสุพรรณธะริดา ส่วนพิชชา สุพรรณธะริดา(เนย) ก็เป็นนักศึกษาปี ๔ ที่ญี่ปุ่น ถ้ามองแบบง่ายๆ สอนก็คือลูกจ้าง และเนยก็เป็นลูกสาวของนายจ้างของสอน แต่นั่นคือทั้งหมดที่มีความสัมพันธ์หรือเปล่า? ในหนึ่งปีที่ผ่านมา เนยได้ทำความรู้จักเกี่ยวกับพี่สอนมากขึ้น บางที วิดีโอนี้อาจเป็นความพยายามที่จะเข้าใจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างทั้งสองคนก็ได้

Under the Same Roof is a personal documentary created in the process of Nuey’s sense-making of her relationship with Sorn in her final project in her undergraduate studies. Her project had spanned from August 2019 until July 2020.

『Under the Same Roof』は、ヌイの卒業プロジェクトの成果物の一部で、彼女がソーンとの関係を意識して制作した映像作品だ。プロジェクトは2019年8月から2020年7月までの期間に及んだ。

“ใต้หลังคาเดียวกัน” เป็นสารคดีส่วนตัวที่ถูกสร้างขึ้นในกระบวนการของเนย ในการทำความเข้าใจความสัมพันธ์ของเธอกับสอน ในโปรเจคสุดท้ายของเธอในการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีของเธอ โครงการของเธอครอบคลุมตั้งแต่สิงหาคม 2562 จนถึงเดือนกรกฎาคม 2563
