4. Apps that I use everyday!
I have zero focus. I would be working on something very important one second, next thing you know, the pigeon in my balcony has the highest priority. So I have come to take the help of certain apps to help me through my everyday life. Here are few apps that I use everyday to make my life easier, in no particular order.
- Duolingo — This is the Google Chrome’s version. It opens in my new tabs and I have a constant reminder of lessons I need to complete, whenever I open a new tab. I have an app too, for the days I am really busy to open the laptop. Thanks to this, I am 42% fluent in French and even thinking to try out a professional course in French.
- Wallcat — I used to be a wallpaper hoarder back in college. I had the widest range of wallpapers on my system. I still love a new wallpaper everyday. Wallcat comes to rescue. I open my laptop everyday to see the new wallpapers.
- F.lux — “It makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.” So it helps the night owls sleep better by taking away the blue light. But I must admit, I don’t like the warm tones in my computer. Nevertheless, it is a good app as long as it soothes my eyes.
- HocusFocus — I hate the randomly opened windows on my main screen. This little fella here keeps hiding them to save them from my wrath. And does a pretty good job of it.
- Noisli — It’s not an app, rather a website for ambient white noise. I don’t listen to music while working and need some background white noise. And so comes this place of beautiful low white noises of different kinds and moods!
- Calm — Helps a lot in my meditation especially when I can’t seem to focus and am very stressed and upset for no reason whatsoever. And it’s ambient sounds to meditate are the best!
- WorkFlowy/Keep — These two come as a saviour for list making and keeping notes. I use android. Keep is one app, I’d be extremely lost without. It has so many notes that I don’t even know why they are there. But since they are, they must be important somehow. Workflowy helps me organise my thoughts into simple and deep todos.
- Google Sheets — I make sheets for everything. What I do on an everyday basis, to what books I read, to what new habits I want to cultivate. I just use sheets for every thing. For such purposes, excels are the best. If there is something that can beat them, please let me know.
- Pocket — Keeper of everything I’d probably never read, but this extension for chrome never complains when I pocket almost every other page for reading later. Let’s you save the pages tag wise.
- StayFocussed — If it were not for Stayfocussed, I’d have been on reddit all day long. One small chrome extension, but adds so much productivity. And try changing the maximum viewing time here. You’d give up before the extension.
These are few apps that I use daily, and have made my life better in a small way. I am not a heavy smart phone user and I uninstall any app that I don’t use for a week. But these few are the ones that have stayed for a long time with me. Let me know what sorts out your life.
