In a post on X from 27.09.2023, OpenAI announces that ChatGPT can now browse the internet to provide you with current information with direct links to sources.

The chatbot has previously been limited to using data from before September 2021 when answering users’ questions, as stated in the tweet.

Currently, the feature is only available to paid Plus or Enterprise subscribers, but soon, they will expand it to all users, they state in follow-up posts on X.

Contrary to the new voice function of ChatGPT, I am more excited about this feature.

ChatGPT’s internet access, combined with the obvious chat functionality, makes it much more powerful than search engines like Google!

In a follow-up tweet, OpenAI continues their statement as follows: “Browsing is particularly useful for tasks that require up-to-date information, such as helping you with technical research, trying to choose a bike, or planning a vacation.”
