Depleted Soils = Depleted Produce

What you dont know IS Killing you!

In general, most plants grow by absorbing nutrients from the soil. Their ability to do this depends on the nature of the soil. If you know anything about the farming industry, you understand that plants need these three primary nutrients, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) added to the soil for proper growth. The makeup of a soil (soil texture) and its acidity (pH), determine the extent to which nutrients are available to plants.

Since plants get carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from the air and water, there is little farmers and gardeners can do to control how much of these nutrients a plant can use.

Over time, erosion and unwise farming methods have depleted our topsoil of its precious mineral content.

As inorganic substances, minerals can’t be synthesized by the human body. Instead, they have to be obtained from the foods we eat. But modern unhealthy diets high in poor quality, processed foods, combined with the mineral-depleted topsoil, has made it very difficult for most people to get adequate amounts of these essential nutrients.

When dinosaurs ruled the earth 75 million years ago, they were likely living in an environment abundant with life-supporting minerals. Soil was laden with as many as 70 known minerals, which were absorbed through the root systems of plants to become part of a vibrant, life-sustaining food supply.

Since the first time we turned on the first electric power plant in the late 1880's, we have since lost our ability to acquire certain trace minerals. The #1 fuel source in the world 150 years ago was wood. In fact, the very first patent was wood ash because some countries in Europe burned up all of their forest wood because they were against burning coal, so the United States patented wood ash and started shipping wood ash, yes wood ash, across the Atlantic Ocean for money!

When you burn wood to ashes, you burn the carbon off and receive trace elements, of which we put into our garden soil to be derived by the crops.

Why would we blindly hope that the produce we buy from our convenience stores or organic wholefood stores has the proper nutrients we need?

The following excerpts are from Senate Document #264 produced in 1934:

“Laboratory tests prove that the fruits, the vegetables, the grains, the eggs and even the milk and meats of today are not what they were a few generations ago. No man of today can eat enough fruits and vegetables to supply his system with the minerals he requires for perfect health…”

“No longer does a balanced and fully nourishing diet consist merely of so many calories or certain vitamins or a fixed proportion of starches, proteins, and carbohydrates. We now know that it must contain, in addition, something like a score of trace minerals”.

“It is bad news to learn from our leading authorities that 99 percent of the American people are deficient in these minerals, and that a marked deficiency in any one of the more important minerals actually results in DISEASE. Any upset of the balance, any considerable lack of one or another element, however microscopic the body requirement may be, and we sicken, suffer, and shorten our lives”.

Are you starting to get the picture yet?

My solution to the problem has already been answered by Dr. Joel Wallach, BS, ND, DVM. My friend Dr. Joel Wallach states there are 90 Essential Nutrients, of which we need 60 (Plant derived) Essential Minerals along with 16 Vitamins 12 amino acids and 2-3 fatty acids, that humans need to operate at optimum health. Dr. Wallach ‘s research has resulted in the publication of more than 70 peer review and refereed journal articles in the fields of nutrition and pharmaceutical research, and he has made major contributions to nine multi- authored text and reference books on these subjects.

Dr Wallach has been a veterinarian for 30 years, he worked as a research veterinary pathologist with The National Institute of Health for The Center for the Biology of Natural Systems, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri; Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia, at Emory University. Having discovered and identified the first animal models for cystic fibrosis- monkeys — he found that he could reproduce their condition at will because it was a nutritional deficiency. His find offered great promise for children with the disease, but when he made it public, the institute fired him on 24- hours notice.

Perplexed, Dr. Wallach made the decision to go to medical school so he could treat children for cystic fibrosis himself. After realizing that traditional medical school was likely to be as repressive as the National Institute he accepted an invitation to teach nutrition at The National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Oregon , not even knowing what a naturopathic doctor was.

When he learned that he could be a primary care physician-deliver babies, sew up chainsaw wounds, write prescriptions and get paid by insurance- all through a program that encouraged interest in nutrition, he simultaneously enrolled as a full-time student. Soon people were flocking to the college clinic.

Point being, everyones’ minerally deficient but there is a way you can prevent yourself from falling into the same rabbit hole like everyone else.
