I’m in similar situation. At moment it was like I was reading about myself. I’m about to find a mentor this fall and review my programming skills after couple of years. Due to unskilled teachers in college I didn’t understand it. Later I managed to figure it out. In those years there were no boot camps, nor video tutorials. There was a deficiency in literature about programming in general so I switched to networking. But even if you are more interested in some other IT fields you’re surrounded by programming. Even the slightest automation of processes in any of the operating systems requires coding skills. Like the author pointed out I also want something to build not just coding but designing the software from scratch.
