Day 5: Five Places I want to Visit
Traveling helps one see the beauty in the world and appreciate the strength in our diversity.
Today’s post is about the top 5 places of destination on my list. Well, I’ve always dreamed of traveling around the world, especially with my future wife, to see the different places of the earth. Our world is really diverse with different cultures and traditions and lifestyles. Being able to see them would help you appreciate the creativity of God expressed through humans. There are lots of places I would like to visit and picking a top 5 wasn’t as straightforward. But in the end, 5 is 5 and here they are…
- China

China is the place to be right now, considering the amazing pace at which the country’s economy has developed. I read somewhere that the sentiment among people seeking a better life should be, “Go east, young man” (as it was “Go west, young man” at the beginning of the development of the new world). China has become the world’s leader in technology with different mind-blowing technologies springing up everyday, and in business with their focus on production, mass production. And they’re slowly but surely overtaking the United States as the world power. I love the way the Chinese have been able to embrace globalization while retaining their fundamental culture (this is a common theme among the big Asian nations) and how they’ve been able to take advantage of their massive population to build their economy while lifting the people out of poverty. I would like to visit to get a feel of the place, understand their mindset and culture, and do business with the people (businesses dey every where for there). Particular places I’ll like to see are Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
2. Australia

Very little is seen about Australia internationally, yet they are one of the most developed nations in the world. I would love to visit there, and that part of the world map, just to see how the place is (whether na the same world all of us gather dey) and the people, the Aussies. I hear Australians have a funny accent. It’ll be nice to hear them. They’re also known for having a unique animal kingdom possessing mainly exotic animals such as the koala and the kangaroo. Their cities, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, (all on the coastline) are recognized as some of the most liveable cities in the world. And I love the sound of these names.
3. Israel

Located in the Middle East and surrounded by contentious nations, Israel has been a wonder for me, not least because it’s the plot location of Scriptures. In the midst of conflict, Israel has been able to excel and take a strategic position among the powers that be. That, in itself, is testament to the validity of the Abrahamic covenant. The Jews are phenomenal people. Israel’s educational system is one of the strongest in the world and I’ll go to do some research there, some time in the future. Not to mention that it’s one of the breeding grounds for technology, having a high number of scientists, engineers and tech hubs. Holy Land pilgrimage is definitely on my to-do list as well. Can’t wait to see Jerusalem, Jericho, Galilee, and the rest, and relive Bible times.
4. London, UK

Royalty. That’s the attraction for me. I’ll love to see the Buckingham Palace and have a feel of royal living. Plus, I’ve heard a lot about the sights and sounds of the city (Nigerians, especially Yorubas, plenty for there).
5. New York, USA

Manhattan specifically. One of the places in the world with dense population of skyscrapers. The home of Wall Street and Empire State Building. The Statue of Liberty. The economic capital of the world. Not to mention the rise of Silicon Alley (not Valley) as a tech hub. With my growing interest in fintechs, this is definitely a place to visit.
There are a lot of honorable mentions but I won’t be listing them today. But, more importantly, I’ll be visiting them, all of them.
