Duo…. First Impressions

I have been using duo (Google’s latest communication app) for about a week now and I must say I have been very impressed. Simple is beautiful and the simplicity of the duo app makes it so beautiful in the sense that it just works. The picture quality is good, the sound is superb, ‘knock knock’ is a nice to have feature and it does a good job checking your connection and advising you to pause the video if it feels your connection is poor(there has to be something googly in there)

Duo reminds me of WhatsApp and I suspect that when the duo team(Is that what they are called?) sat down to draw their vision for the app, WhatsApp must have been one of their inspirations (you can also add the initial clutter free google home page).

Like every man made app, there are sore spots and for me right now, its the fact that I can’t un pause a paused video. My baby is 5,365 miles away from me( 5 hours time difference) and i’ll like to see her smile when i am saying good night even with the poorest connection.

WhatsApp there’s a new foe in town, if you don’t release video calling soon, you’ll lose the video war.
