Have you ever experienced weak hookah pulls or the hookah not pulling at all? Don’t worry, I have encountered this situation countless times, so in this blog, I have summarized some common causes and solutions for poor hookah pull, I believe it will definitely help you

Common Causes and Solutions for Weak Hookah Pull

So what makes a shisha lose its pull? There are a few usual suspects here. First off it may be due to blocked airflow. If the smoke cannot flow easily through the pipe then it will struggle to get into the mouth. Check whether there are any obstructions in the hose or ports bowl or base etc., Clean out any residual slime or residues from inside the pipe as well as ensure all connections are right.

Another pulling performance killer is an improper bowl pack. The shisha needs the right amount of heat and airflow to produce thick clouds of smoke. If the tobacco is packed too tight or the foil has too many holes, you compromise that balance. Try a fluffier pack with fewer holes poked in the foil. Find your pipe’s airflow sweet spot!

Also, The purge balls that are inside the hookah water pipe work as good airflow regulators as they prevent inhales from outside through its many exterior holes. So if those balls go missing or get dislodged, it can totally mess up the pull. Carefully check inside the parts you’ve taken apart to see if the purge balls fell out. Replacing them with new balls of equal size instantly brings back the lost suction seal of hookah.

Sure, it’s time for a seal inspection! How tight your hookah will be depends on how those seals look like. Just change them with new silicone or rubber seals that are of high quality and one is done. Just apply petroleum jelly on the joining points between seals and other parts as an added trick. This makes the seals stick really well, creating an airtight connection. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Could using multiple hoses restrict the pull if they aren’t fitted properly?

Not only that but I have also had smoke leak out because it was a loose connection or not sealed correctly on a multi-hose hookah. Therefore, using multiple hoses for your hookah may change how you pull and the feel air through it if you do not set them up and handle them with care.

Therefore, how can we tackle this problem? Normally, in these Y splitters, the problem is worn out or damaged o-rings around the hose connections. These small rubber rings wear out and lose their tight seal allowing for air to pass through them. The easiest solution here is to buy new o-rings and replace them.

In multi-port hookahs, wrong-fitting rubber stoppers may also cause problems. If those stoppers have any space at all around them, then air will draw through and ruin your pull. All you have to do is ensure that any stopper is tightly fitted with no space between it and the device it’s been plugged into.

Secondly, one should avoid using too many hoses at a time. Too many hoses even with tight seals can dilute the pull and decrease smoke output. Therefore, I would recommend you go for 2–4 hoses maximum depending on your hookah size.

Lastly, take for yourself one multi-hose hookah head among those available. They have different ports and channels for air flow to individual hoses thus preventing smoke chamber leakage and ensuring enough smoke to reach every inlet.
