This link implies about (1/2500)^.5 = 2.2% of whites, 0.8% of Africans and 0.5% of Asians are carriers, which is similar enough that the discrepancy in death rates is likely due to differences in transmission rate.

Outcomes for patients with CF seem similar to the public at large. If a large majority of the deceased are CF carriers, then genetic tests of just a few victims should yield strong evidence for or against the hypothesis. Have you any way to do those tests?

Why does CF get worse with age, and could that be related to COVID-19 not affecting children?
