Just like yesterday when we started this exciting journey into the world of web development at TIIDELab fellowship. As they say “Learning never ends”, it has been two months of hard work, consistency, and learning. This concluded month has been exciting and filled with a lot of information which I’ll be sharing with you in this article.

First, earlier this month we were distributed various projects topic that I and my group will be working on an AgriTech Solution. This platform is a marketplace that will allow the buying and selling of agricultural products. Work started in earnest as me and my team sprang into action. In the first two weeks, we had started our compiling our SRSD (Software Requirement and Specification Documents) and FRD (Functional Required Documents). This was not easy, a lot of meetings and tasks to carry out. I want to also use this medium to appreciate Mr. Ibrahim Lukman, Mrs. Celeste O, and Mr. Aderoju Shamsudeen Adedapo for their endless support to see that it we understood it and had enough to carry on.

On the 15th of July, 2022, I and my fellows at TIIDELab celebrated World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). Here is a brief about what the WYSD is all about by the United Nations(UN)

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. Since then, World Youth Skills Day has provided a unique opportunity for dialogue between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, firms, employers’ and workers’ organizations, policy-makers, and development partners

We had robust conversations with Molema Lema and Zeenat Lawal who were our special guests of honor who spoke to us about how the skills of the youth can be transformed for the future. Here is a snippet of how me and my fellows advocated for TVET to be incorporated into our educational curriculum.

Two weeks ago, some wonderful people who will serve as our mentors throughout our stay in this fellowship and beyond we unveiled to us. We were so excited to have them in our midst and also have to take me and my fellow mentors to the next level. Our wonderful mentors include:

Mr brahim Lukman MEng,PMP,ITIL, MrIbrahim Dauda, Mr Molema Lema, Mr Bashir Mohammed, PhD, Mr Adetokunbo Temitayo Ige, Mr Samsudeen Yusuf, Miss Zeenat Lawal and Mr Chokor Solomon.

The importance of having a mentor cannot be overemphasized as this mentors will take us to the next level of our career as software developers. In the word of the renowned scientist Sir Isaac Newton, who said

If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.

These two months have been filled with a lot of experiences and fun. Some of the feats I made in the past month was how I came third in July’s coding challenge. I scaled through the first round with a score of 94% as the second position and finally made it for the Mock Interview as the third position with a score of 74%.

I want to use this medium first to thank our founder Mr. Kadir Salami, our program Coordinator Mr. Shams Aderoju, Mr. Ibrahim Lukman, Mr. Pishikni Tukura, Mr. Adebayo Samuel Ayodele (Unclebigbay) our coach and Our wonderful Technical support Mr. Peter Adeyemo, Miss Zainab Agboola, Miss Haneefah Owuri for their help in seeing that we become software engineers that are highly sought after.

Thanks for reading.
