What is Nym?
Nym addresses a substantial internet dilemma: the visibility of traffic patterns to any observer on the network. How Does Nym Work?
Nym offers robust network-level privacy for various forms of message-based traffic, including cryptocurrency transactions, email, and instant messaging. Diverging from Tor, Nym’s mixnet design ensures network anonymity and surveillance resistance, even when confronted with adversaries capable of monitoring the entire network. This is achieved by introducing cover traffic and timing obfuscation.
In contrast to being administered by a trusted provider like a VPN, Nym’s mixnet operates in a decentralized manner, utilizing blockchain technology and token economics to structure the network’s topology. Nym node operators are incentivized to run nodes, maintain high service quality, and ensure uptime. Software updates are driven by community adoption, with decisions made collectively by node operators and token holders.
