Johannes Vermeer 1632–1675 was a Dutch Baroque painter known for his exquisite and meticulously detailed genre scenes, portraits, and domestic interiors. He often used a camera obscura, a device that projected an image onto a surface, to help him achieve this level of detail and accuracy. His compositions are carefully arranged, and he had a keen sense of color harmony.
