Andy Warhol, born Andrew Warhola on August 6, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was a prominent American artist and cultural figure of the 20th century. His life was marked by a remarkable journey through the world of art, pop culture, and avant-garde expression. Early Life: Warhol was the fourth child of Czechoslovakian immigrants. He grew up in a working-class family in Pittsburgh and experienced illness and isolation during his childhood due to health issues.
Warhol’s parents were Andrej Warhola worked as a construction worker and coal miner and Julia Warhola was an artist and a homemaker. His parents were immigrants from Ruthenian Carpatho-Rusyn descent. His parents were part of the Rusyn community, which is an Eastern Slavic ethnic group. Warhol had two brothers only. His brothers were named Paul and John. Warhol was the third son in the family.
Warhol demonstrated artistic talent at a young age and went on to study commercial art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. After graduation, he moved to New York City in 1949 to pursue a career in the art world.
